THE STANDARD FOR ALL CONNECTING ROD SCALES
UNIQUE FEATURES:
- MAKE MASTERS
- CHECK MASTERS WITH TRACEABLE MASS STANDARDS
- PROVIDE INDEPENDENT PIN END/CRANK END WEIGHT
- ELIMINATE "WEIGHT TRANSFER" ERRORS
- FAST! CAN WEIGH MORE THAN 600 PIECES PER HOUR!
- (Actual weigh time per rod is about one second.)
(typical fixed tooling and cradle)
- The 21-200 Series of Connecting Rod Scale Systems consists of two AWS-200 Type Weigh-Cells mounted on a common base.
- A single digital weigh meter provides simultaneous crank-end weight, pin-end weight and total weight readings.
- Completing the system and supported on the Weigh Cells is a CUSTOM designed three point suspension cradle which gives the independent crank end and pin end weights.
- Includes two test platforms, one per scale, to calibrate the scales and weigh other items such as wrist pins and pistons.
(PLC driven weigh-meter)

STANDARD FIXED TOOLING
(typical fixed tooling and cradle)
Custom designed tooling assemblies which properly locate the connecting rods are designed and manufactured per customer requirements and are quoted on a per job basis.
- Each set of tooling is quoted only after seeing a drawing of the rod.
- Reference points must be clearly defined
- The aggregate error is usually less than 0.001"
- Changing from one set of tooling to another is an easy 6 step process.
- Remove present tooling – four screws.
- Move the cradle centers to approximately the c-c distance of the next tooling.
- Place the span plate, crank end tooling, and the pin-end tooling in place
- Refasten the four screws.
- Set final alignment of the cradle.
- Adjust the counter-weights as necessary.
UNIVERSAL ADJUSTABLE TOOLING
(typical adjustable tooling cradle)
Universal tooling allows the user to weigh prototype rods, single engine rods, or a family of rods with no expensive tooling or tooling changes. Only a simple set-up is required.
- Set-up is a simple 6 step process.
- Loosen the cradle clamps.
- Set the Center to Center of the tooling using the provided vernier.
- Snug the cradle clamps.
- Adjust the pin-end locating pins until the rod fits easily down past the pins.
- Adjust the crank end locating pins until the rod is approximately level.
- Check for final alignment of the cradle.
AUTOMATED CONNECTING ROD SCALES
(typical automated scale system)
- We can design any configuration needed to match your production.
- We typically use pick and place units to move the rods to and from the scale.
- We can sort, good-bad, or sort to a number of classes.
- This arrangement has been used mostly with powdered metal rods.
MASTER ROD FOR YOUR CONROD SYSTEM
ADVANCE WEIGHT SYSTEMS can supply a CERTIFIED connecting rod "Master", balanced to a customer specified weight condition. The customer must supply a rod machined to drawing tolerance to all dimensions with the crank and pin end overweight. The "Master" rods will be bright nickel plated and sealed to the accuracy specified. We provide a custom wooden storage box and certificates of weight and accuracy. |
CAN BE USED WITH ANY TWO-WEIGH-CELL CONROD SCALE BASE
